When Enough Is Enough

By Mary Gerard, for dumbhoosier.com

There's a few things in this world I just don't get.  One is this whole tea party/ Occupy Wallstreet stuff.  I get so tired of all the criticism and analysis of these forms of protest and demonstration.   What is all this partisan rhetoric about these groups?  Is it so hard to imagine that there would be some form of uprising among "we the people," given all the tragic mishandlings we've seen among our so-called leaders?  Wow.  Are we such a sophisticated society that when we get violated by our own government, we can only "get really angry" and maybe file some sort of written complaint...... without scrutiny?

But if we take up our cause and gather in groups to simply say "Hey, we disagree.  This is heinous and we aren't going to take it anymore" we become our own worst enemies and destroy ourselves before we can even stand any chance of actually making a difference and having an impact.  The left attacks the Tea Partiers; the right attacks the Occupiers.   And maybe that's what our fearless leadership (who continue to screw us daily) count on.  That we will deal with our own "we the people" issues by attacking each other.  So they can continue to "fiddle" in their towers unchallenged while "Rome burns" beneath them.

As long as we remain all riled up about the social issues and continue to battle left against right, the ones who stand over us win.  And they don't deserve to win.  The bad guy never does.  I doubt that "right" and "left" realities even still exist up there where only money and power matter.  I truly believe that as well-informed as we like to believe we are in our "liberal" or "conservative" thinking, that partisan separation has become a "smoke and mirrors" fantasy that is kept alive for the sole purpose only of keeping "we the people" busy battling amongst ourselves.  It ensures that there will be no chance of us banding together to demand that our rights be considered.

Imagine the horror on Capitol Hill if the Tea Partiers and Occupy Wallstreeters set aside their social passions and united in a simple cause?  A cause to make things right for the people in this country?  What makes people believe that anything is different or better that comes from Bush, Obama, Clinton or any of the "circus troop" that appear weekly on the newest reality show we know as the "Republican debates?"   They all march to the same corporate tune and they all have one common cause.  And I can assure you it has nothing to do with your best interests, or mine.

So we do not find it in our hearts to support each other and direct our anger at those that created it.......that's what the plan always was.  And it's working.  When I used to see the propaganda that was fed to third world countries that had them blindly hustling like sheep to slaughter, I used to feel such sympathy for them.  I just never imagined that type of "wool over our eyes" leadership would ever be tolerated in the great U. S. of A.  And that the descendents of the people I've read about in our history books here would ever allow it.
